Guided Meditation: Meet Your Buddha

Recently I’ve found that Buddhist and Hindu wisdom have been slowly integrating themselves into my life and changing the way I think. Back in December, I read a post from Llewellyn’s Spell-A-Day Collection and wanted to share my own version of a Buddha Invocation as a Guided Meditation to communicate with the version of Buddha that speaks to you.

Meet Your Buddha Guided Meditation

Sit comfortably with your spine as straight as possible, ground and center yourself as you would at the beginning of any ritual or working. Close your eyes and take three deep breaths, in and out, in and out, in and out. Feel yourself surrounded by satin silver light. Look deeper into the light and see it start to twinkle. As the twinkling grows bigger, you start to see a shape take form. You see a purple lotus floating and sparkling in the silver satin sky. The lotus fades as a new image starts to appear. You see the outline of a seated figure meditating.

This is your Buddha. Greet him with your smile. Is he the Happy Buddha? The Medicine Buddha? The Monkey King Buddha? The Enlightened Buddha? Mirror your Buddha as he moves his arms and tilts his head. Shape your fingers into the signs as he does. Take a deep breath, in and out, in and out, in and out.

Now listen. Does your Buddha speak? What does he say?

Take some time and just listen to your Buddha, if he doesn’t speak, then communicate with him by mirroring his movements.

Once your Buddha has signaled that he is finished communicating by smiling a nodding his head say the following:

“Om mani padme hum.
Om mani padme hum.
Om mani padme hum.
Please infuse my awareness with peace
and my actions with love. Thank you.”
