Autumn Incense Recipe for The First Harvest

There is just something special about mixing up your own concoctions in the kitchen! I always love to set the tone of the day and the season with scent. Here is one of my favorite recipes for The First Harvest, also known as Lammas, & Lughnasadh.

Lammas & Lughnasadh Incense

Make sure that you use dried ingredients. You could also add a smidgen of Frankincense to this mixture as well. Start with equal parts or just a pinch of each, until you have the desired aroma.

Mix your ingredients together, if you want a fine texture use a glass bowl or a mortar. I like to use a mortar because it makes the act of mixing the herbs feel special. If you want a “chunkier” loose incense, simply put your ingredients in a bowl and then lightly crunch them in your hands. You can also do this in a plastic bag and crumple the bag to crunch up your incense.

Light your coal and place it in your kadylo, thurible, incensor or any heat safe open container. Sprinkle your loose herb incense mix onto the coal and enjoy The First Harvest, Lammas, & Lughnasadh aroma.
